Should society judge a young woman for having an abortion? Abortion has always been an issue even before the Roe v Wade case. Many argue how a woman is killing her own child; on the contrary, others strike back with facts about how it’s not a fully developed human. Many issues about this topic go to court all the time, but should it really be the law or even the parents who get to decide whether a woman should have the right to keep her baby or abort it? Throughout the years, parents are always there guiding through our rights and wrongs, however, a decision as big as abortion should be the choice of a woman or a girl herself. How can we progress as a country when the government is preventing many young women from being successful because of one mistake? “Studies show that an educated girl will reinvest 90 percent of her future income in her family, compared with 35 percent for a boy,” and every additional year of school for a mother lowers the likelihood of a baby 's death by 5 to 10 percent.18 And countries that made progress toward the Millennium Development Goals — U.N. targets set in 2000 that aimed to halve extreme poverty by 2015 — have discovered that when girls ' education improves, new mothers and children live longer, diseases decrease and youth job prospects improve” (Yee 5). Sometimes when a woman is forced to make a decision that she denied she becomes depressed. The researcher shows that as long as a young woman has the opportunity of getting an education, her child will live better. A woman should have the choice of when she wants to have a child so she could get her education. She should decide when the time is right. Not only does an early pregnancy cause an obstacle in your future, but can give medical complications. “Adolescent pregnancy, which increases the risk of childbirth complications, other health risks and even death. 41 Mothers under 15 are five times more likely to die in childbirth than women in their 20s. Child marriage also deprives girls of access to education, diminishes future job prospects and earning potential” (Yee 5). It is a risk to give birth when you are a young woman.
