Should Social Media Be Considered A Good Thing?

The thing with social media is that neither side can be 100% right or 100% wrong. In my opinion, social media should be looked at as a good thing, for a various amount of reasons, which I will go over later on in this essay.

There's a decent number of reasons why social media should be considered a good thing. One of those reasons, actually becoming personal to me; social media opens opportunities for you by showing your potential to a murch larger group of people, instead of a small group. For instance, a well-known bass fishing team offered to be a sponsor for my social media page and fishing team because they saw my videos on Instagram. Now I get to bass fish, which I love to do, and get paid to do it. There are countless young men and women that have the potential to do very great things, and social media is helping them become discovered.

Just as it is in life, there is absolutely nothing that is 100% good. On social media, they have "catfish", people who create fake identities and go on dating websites for young men and women, and when they meet up they kidnap them. Then there's cyber bullying, where whenever you post a picture on the web, and people you may not neccessarily like negatively critisize you through comments. Then, of course, they have those people who post "vulgar" photos and videos on the web. Those videos range from people dying in car accidents, to very gory videos of people or animals being dismembered, to pornographic material. No social media website has enough protection against these certain people, but they sure try. Most of the social media websites have "report" buttons, where if you so happen to come across a photo or video belonging to the category above, you can report it to the people who run the
