Anti Smoking Persuasive Speech

About 480,000 Americans die from smoking-related diseases each year, in the United States. Smoking is legal in all 50 states, when its the leading preventable cause of death in the country. Congress prohibits the states from making any new legislation; which act to diminish the big cigarette and tobacco industries, due to its best-connected people in Washington and it’s huge role it plays in the U.S economy. The United States Government must impose a complete ban on all cigarette and tobacco products, due to the harmful risks of secondhand smoke, it creates a pollution crisis for future generations, and causes users of all ages serious health concerns.

Either we as a society change the laws that allow smoking cigarettes in America illegal

ETS is a mixture of two forms of smoke that come from burning tobacco,also described as secondhand smoke. The two forms created are called mainstream smoke, and sidestream smoke. Mainstream smoke is the smoke exhaled by a smoker. Sidestream smoke is the smoke coming from the lighted end of a cigarette, pipe, or cigar. When innocent non-smokers are exposed to secondhand smoke it 's called passive smoking. ETS is a crisis in our country, because when someone lights up in public or in the car, the person not taking part in smoking is breathing in nicotine and toxic chemicals the same way smokers do. Sadly, there 's no safe level of exposure for secondhand smoke. We all been victims of ETS just by casually walking in public around smokers. This is a problem that cannot be ignored any longer. If our society went along with prohibiting the sale of tobacco and cigarette products, we will be able too look forward to a sustainable future; where there are less human casualties related to the effects of smoking also a more educated country as we progress into helping others that currently use cigarettes and tobacco. Tobacco use is the leading preventable cause of disease, disability, and death in the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), cigarette smoking results in more than 480,000 premature deaths in the United States each year—about 1 in every 5 U.S. deaths—and an additional 16 million people suffer with a serious illness caused by smoking. Smoking causes lung diseases and increases the risk of heart disease. Cigarettes and tobacco products cause cancer in the following; trachea, bronchus, esophagus, oral cavity, lip, nasopharynx, nasal cavity, larynx, stomach, bladder, pancreas, kidney, liver, uterine cervix, colon, rectum and in addition smoking is known to cause leukemia. When an addicted user tries to quit, he or she goes through withdrawal symptoms, that could include sleep disturbances, increased appetite, and powerful cravings for tobacco.
