The legal age for smoking tobacco products in America is 18 that being said exposing kids or anyone younger to see advertisements on TV or anywhere should be illegal. So what if we had limits of what the tobacco companies could do to advertise their products? Limiting and regulating what the companies can put on the cigarette packaging would colossally effect the people starting to smoke or who have been smoking. The plan to have a t chart with positives and negatives effects of smoking this would be right on the packaging that cigarettes came in. The negatives to smoking and would much outweigh the positives and when someone who wants to smoke and may change their mind to pick up the bad habit when they can physically see the negatives of what they are about to intake into their body. This idea is similar to what happened in Australia where they changed the packaging on their cigarette boxes with words saying “Smoking kills” Ext… and this tactic to stop smokers has made a crazy effect on tobacco sales in Australia from “$5.135 billion in September 1959, $3.508 billion in December 2012; and $3.405 billion in March 2014 the packaging alone has brought down the amount of tobacco products sold”(health.gov.au). We would help kids see smoker’s lungs are not healthy like someone who hasn’t smoked lungs. These proven facts should be shown to kids and anyone who is thinking about starting smoking or tobacco use really knows what the effects can be and will see that the habit really isn’t worth it. Tobacco companies could always argue this is “hurting our jobs” but tobacco companies are making the life span average shorter and people should know about the effects of smoking. And we should make it clear what those negative effects are and big tobacco companies should forget about their income and think more about the future of our world instead because at the moment “Cigarette smoking causes more than 480,000 deaths each year in
