Should smoking be banned in public places?
As we all know, smoking is a very serious health problem, because it will cause many disease such like cancer and bronchitis. According to Dr. Michael, a health expert graduate form university of California, there are 50 million people smoke in United States now. You may think that it is not a big deal because only these 50 million people may have health problem. If smokers know that cigarette butts will cause pollution, and dispose their waste in public places, that might not be an issue, however, the fact of the matter is they don’t. We can see many butts on the sidewalk, and smokers have many excuses like “It’s too small to put it in garbage can” or “They just biodegrade”. It is true that cigarette butts will biodegrade, but it takes 15 more years to breakdown and some parts of cigarette butts will still in the ground and harm other creatures like animals. A smoking ban would reduce litter, and make less pollution. My last supporting point is, stains and smell of cigarette can hardly remove. The smoke that produced by cigarettes are not only include compounds that causing cancer or other diseases, but also will have long lasting effects on other things. Most people have unpleasant feeling caused by cigarette smoke. It will stick on clothes even on walls or furniture. Most restaurants and bars have dark yellow stain made by cigarette smoke, and it makes most of consumers unhappy about their environment. And it is also very difficult to remove this yellow stain from its surface. The only solution is to paint over stain but it will costs lots of money.
As a summary, smoke in public places will not only harm smoker himself but also others who is innocent and be forced to breathe secondhand smoke. I strongly suggested to bring up laws and limited smoking in public
