Many leaders could not decide whether or not to make slave men and women free. Which was a conflict because of the Declaration of independence, it stated that “all man are created equal”. This was a conflict, especially for Thomas Jefferson since he wrote part of the Declaration of independence. Despite the Declaration of Independence, we have the U.S. Constitution does have something to say about slavery.
