Need to define person specification (s=knowledge and skills) for specific roles (end product) but could trainees be allowed more flexibility in deciding how to get there?
This essay is a great example of giving adult learners the opportunity to decide what they want to learn or discuss or reflect upon. It is empowering on one hand and a bit daunting on the other hand as learner are used to be told what to do especially when it comes to assessments. Today simulation has become an integral part of training. Some centre use real near misses events to create simulation scenarios. Simulation offers learning without the risk of harming patients since high and low fidelity manikins are used to this effect. High fidelity manikin offer a near-real life experience. Low fidelity manikins have been in use for several years in life support courses. Many courses participants have complained of the lack of real life experience during this type of teaching.
