It’s your mom’s birthday! You have reservations for her favorite restaurant, The Hill Top! You want to make her birthday a special one since she does so much for you, even though she can’t hear. You arrive at the hostess station at the entrance of the restaurant. You are so excited to give your mom your awesome present you got her, that you even tell your mom’s service bird to gome to your shoulder to calm you down. Then the unthinkable happens. The hostess won't let you into the restaurant with her bird, since the passed the ADA law. Your family is crushed that hey have to go home instead of high dining at a fancy restraunt.
Situation like this have been happening very often since the ADA law was passed back in 2011. I believe dogs and miniature horses should not be the only service animals allowed in public places. This provides them with social skills strong enough to have human interactions. Training a service animal, like monkeys, is a very long process. Monkeys spend several years around humans, before beginning there actually service animal training. A service animal's education is not cheap. Tamrs Orr states in the article “Monkey Helpers”, “The cost of education for just one monkey is close to $40,000.” Monkeys train for up to 5 years to master simple tasks like opening a microwave, or flipping a page in a book.
My last reason why other unique animals should be able to go in public places is because they help people with disabilities like spinal issues, paralyzation, and deafness. Service animals help health impaired humans with daily tasks that people tend to take for granted. These animals help people flip pages in a book, put DVD’s in a DVD player, and many many more
