Should Professional Athletes Use Performance Enhancing Drugs

J.K. Rowling is famous for stating, “Imagination is not only the uniquely human capacity to envision that which is not, and, therefore, the foundation of all invention and innovation. In its arguably most transformative and revelatory capacity, it is the power that enables us to empathize with humans whose experiences we have never shared.” This is relevant to innovation in the point that if you are not moving forward, you are moving backwards. In modern times, innovation is the force that drives all of what mankind does. Every person is trying to get ahead and make a difference in the short time they are on this Earth. In professional sports, this is true that players are trying to obtain every advantage possible. In some ways, professional athletes try to use the best equipment they can do to get an advantage. In other ways, these athletes prepare their bodies to be the best it could be. Professional athletes should not be able to legally use performance enhancing drugs for.many reasons. Some of these reasons include an unlevel playing field, unfair to those athletes who worked hard for their accomplishments, threatening of athletes’ health, and it sets a bad example for aspiring athletes and for the community. The immediate effectivity of the drugs and the very low rate for testing allows for an easy way of bypassing hard work for the results. Performance enhancing drugs set an unfair advantage by giving some athletes abilities they could not do without these drugs. It has also been found that performancing enhancing drugs cause health problems that may not be. apparent.until later in life. If performance enhancing drugs are legalized for professional athletes, it will have devastating results on the character of professional
