Police body cameras have gotten extremely controversial in the public. These body cameras will be attached to police officers and will record the actions of the officers. The cameras can be turned off when entering a private property. When an officer is done with his/her shift he/she will have to put the camera into a docking station. Then the footage will be automatically transferred to a data storage website. Officers cannot touch the footage unless it is used as evidence for court. This situation has gotten many opinions whether police officers should or shouldn’t wear body camera while they work. In my opinion I think police officers should wear body cameras while they work.

An experimental trial included 1,000 officers shifts required to wear and use body-worn cameras when interacting with anyone from the public, while the other controlled group included officers that were instructed not to carry or use the devices in any way. The results of the experiment show that the police officers that didn’t use the body cameras the number of complaints, incidents of use-or-force, and the number of contacts between police officers and the public were very high. Meanwhile, the officers that did carry and were using the body cameras the number of complaints, incidents of force, and the number of contacts between an officer and the people the results were much better than the officers who didn’t use the body cameras.
