An experimental trial included 1,000 officers shifts required to wear and use body-worn cameras when interacting with anyone from the public, while the other controlled group included officers that were instructed not to carry or use the devices in any way. The results of the experiment show that the police officers that didn’t use the body cameras the number of complaints, incidents of use-or-force, and the number of contacts between police officers and the public were very high. Meanwhile, the officers that did carry and were using the body cameras the number of complaints, incidents of force, and the number of contacts between an officer and the people the results were much better than the officers who didn’t use the body cameras.
