Should Pinkston Adopt School Uniforms Essay

Decent Essays
For the past decade people have agreed and disagreed with school uniforms from cases of anti bush t shirt in vermont an anti gay t shirt in san diego and tigger socks in napa california. It has no signs of cooling off.

In my opinion Should pinkston adopt school uniform?... no. I would rather stay with variety of clothing because according to paragraph 6 it states it's a burden for poor people according to paragraph 6 also also violates a student's right to freedom of expression, and how? In the article it shows that 90% of the kids did not like wearing the school uniforms.and it also goes over that it's difficult to enforce in public schools.

On the other hand the article states on paragraph 5 they can stop peer pressure

Did you know that there are many students getting killed by other students that profess to be in a gang? Well, I believe that many students should wear what they want to wear, but not anything that is short or something that represents anything that is harmful. In the text it reads, “They say dress codes and uniforms are obstacles to individuality. For these students, freedom of expression is more important than following rules.” First, there is nothing wrong with having dress codes.…

According to the organization, dress codes and uniforms can help reduce risks by “reducing conflict stemming from socioeconomic status and reduce ways in which gang members can identify themselves with” (Daniels par. 7). For teachers, uniforms help school administrators identify outsiders, or someone who may cause harm to the school (Daniels par. 7). Most importantly, dress codes do not infringe on students’ rights. Daniels mentions how in January 2001, “the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rejected the plaintiff’s argument that uniforms do not improve the academic environment, dampen student expression, and infringe on religious rights” (Daniels par.…

Pro School Uniforms From 7th-8th grade I was placed in a public school setting. This school in particular had no uniform options, so I was forced to have to pick out an outfit every day of every week. This was so stressful and hard for me, and definitely put a toll on my education. I didn’t have the fanciest clothes then, and I most times re-wore the same things repeatedly. This did cause me to feel embarrassed because I thought I was the only one going through this issue.…

Students should be required to wear uniforms so that they can focus more on learning than on fashion, or on the hard decision of what to wear in the morning. Students wearing uniform cuts down bullying and improves discipline, helps promote focus, and save parents money throughout the school year. The main reason for uniforms is that they promote discipline, which in turn helps improve academic performance (Bennett). People who oppose school uniform have stated uniform requirement violates, or disregards, the right to freedom of expression, ("Fashion do or don 't?"). I believe students wearing uniforms makes them all feel the same, and look nice and…

For low-income parents it can be extremely difficult for them to put food on the table every night; let alone trying to keep up with all the top brands. They do not want their child to feel left out or get made fun of for the clothing they wear; however, they know they cannot provide their children with the latest trends in fashion. Uniforms help with that, if everyone has to wear the same thing, then nobody can be singled out for what they are wearing. “… the school board will accommodate the needs of or otherwise provide appropriate resources to assist a student from an indigent family in complying with an applicable school uniform or dress code policy” (105 ILCS. The parent of a third grader told Education World: "My son's an unusual size, so it's hard to find him clothes anyway. Limiting what I buy to certain colors makes shopping for him...more expensive.” This quote shows that uniforms limit the range of which for parents have to buy their clothes, making school shopping take more time and make it more expensive for parents. It isn’t right that school uniforms have to take away their freedom of clothes and makes people have to pay for them. Thus, uniforms shouldn’t be forced into…

If kids weren’t required to wear a certain dress code, they would’ve the total freedom to come however they feel like. Many people argue that schools who required uniforms are taking the right of the students to express themselves in a unique way; however, schools who don’t require uniforms are promoting students to express themselves by the way they dress and not by who they truly are and their personality, so this makes them feel pressured to dress a certain way to be able to be accepted. This then becomes a social issue that creates competency among them of who wears the best outfit. Some kids may feel superior to others because they might feel “richer” by the way they dress, and the “poor people” start to become excluded from the society. This issue affects parents as well as they don’t want their kids to feel excluded, and be bullied simple because of what they are wearing on the…

School Uniforms School uniforms have been a controversial subject on whether students should wear them or not. There are many ways students can be conservative for school other than wearing a uniform. Therefore, I don’t think uniforms are necessary. School uniforms should not be mandatory because students should be able to express themselves, you pay more for certain uniforms, and it can affect one’s self-image. Students should be able to express themselves and uniforms take away their originality.…
