Original Oratory Imagine working all your life to reach your end goal and somebody just cheated their way there and got there so much easier. How would you feel about that? Most likely you would be upset because that person that just cheated their way to success had such an easy path rather than working hard to reach the end goal. Well this is what is happening in sports around the world today. People are now starting to realize that some professional athletes have been using performance enhancing drugs (such as steroids) to give themselves an unfair advantage. A recent topic in the sport world is, should athletes that have been doping be revoked of their awards? Most people would agree that yes, their awards should be revoked.
If the athletes were to be caught using performance enhancing drugs, why don’t they admit that they have done these drugs? It is obvious that the athletes have already been caught, it is just they don’t want to be seen as the “bad guy”. Every player clearly would like to defend themselves and properly explain themselves. Also if an athlete were to use these drugs they would have to be punished in some way. If there would an athlete to be banned for life, it may bring it to the attention of other athletes that people are taking the situation of using performance enhancing drugs very seriously. One obvious reason is to make themselves better, faster, stronger. Well some athletes that might not have that big of a fan base might want to get noticed, especially in a sport environment with other competition. Then they would want to take these performance enhancing drugs to out perform other athletes to get more money or some cases make a roster. This would just be an easier way for the athletes to make more money or impress other
