The majority of us have seen this behavior through our experiences in school, yet many people look the other way and don’t do anything to help out those who are being bullied. Anyone who hasn’t been living under a rock for the past thirty years (on that note, even ten years) acknowledges that the world has changed radically. From the rise and further advancement of computers, to the increasing prevalence of bioengineering, and even something as simple as how people discuss things all demonstrate that this is a radically different world from my parents, my grandparents and my great grandparents. With these innovations, problems both contemporary and archaic have reared their ugly heads; one of the greatest of these issues is bullying. This endearing issue, something in which we all have encountered by some means, and by some form, plays a massive role in our world today. Although it seems like this issue is something with no solution, many resources that have been acquired (from our innovations to the literature that has been created by great minds) prove that there are ideas about how to make this issue cease to exist.…

Bullying, comes in all types form, verbal, physical or emotional. This highly sensitive issue and the heated debates of how to keep our children safe has sparked two movements. The “walk out” movement is to protest gun violence and the “walk up” implies that the kids should befriend strangers, who can potentially be dangerous to try and prevail school violence. Both of these have emerged base off the Parkland Shooting in February 2018. These anti-bullying campaigns could prevent school violence in the future because they are making people aware of the growing issues on campuses.…

The documentary, Bully, follows five children, from elementary school to high school, and offers an intimate viewpoint on the topic of bullying, and how it affects young children and their families. My overall reaction to this documentary was an initial feeling of sadness. Sadness for the children who have been affected by bullying in the documentary, and sadness for all of those who have been affected by bullying in their lives. This feeling soon turned into a concoction of disappointment, anger, and overall confusion. Disappointment and anger in the fact that children in today’s society feel the need to verbally and physically attack others, and disappointment in the way that bullying is handled by teachers, parents, and administration.…

People might decide to help each other for the following reasons. The first reason is compassion. For example, when we found a person who called out for help, we did not know who was but we would go to help quickly as we can because of compassion that is with everyone in the world. Secondly, they cannot help themselves. For instance, people will help an old man who accidentally falls down on the sidewalk.…

But I don’t agree it’s always to let others view ourselves as better. We help others because we gain from the experience and it allows us to make ourselves feel worthy in the community. Other people may or may not witness our actions, but we always know deep down that we are contributing as a valuable individual. This should be the incentive for helping. There is no doubt that people act a certain way and do certain things to benefit themselves or others, but there is always a better way of looking at these kinds of situations instead of in a negative…

Bullies have a motive to control others and enhance their self-image by hurtfully mistreating others. Through schools, community programs, and family intervention, there are many ways to put a stop to a bullies deliberate behavior. Bystanders play a major role in the occurrence of bullying, they watch the incident take place, but never take action to stop it. By watching and not helping, the bystander becomes a part of the situation and essentially is another bully for not trying to help the victim in fear that they too may be victimized. High schools are the number one location where bullying occurs and there is a need to assess and direct attention to put an end to this evil before it spreads across larger vicinity’s.…

School bullying is an epidemic and often times when victims disclose they are bullied, intervention does not occur. Victims of bullying have human rights, and these rights should be considered and advocated for. Multiple studies suggest that bullying is a social injustice issue. (Polanin, M. & Vera, E., 2013) suggest that, because bullying may be considered the exercise of perceived authority or superiority in a cruel and unjust manner, it exists as an example of oppression in society. Any oppression in society against a person, group or class of people is considered a social justice issue.…

A few reasons are outlined in this article. A lot of the times people help others because it will benefit them in the long run. Many Americans believe in karma; if they do something good for someone else, they are expecting that person to do something nice for them in the future. There is also a reputation you receive if you consistently help people without thinking. If you are one of these heroes, you are seen as extremely trustworthy because you deliberately go out of your way to help others without weighing the risk you could bring about on yourself (Yoeli &…
