Players can get a minor injury that may have momentary pain, such as a bruise or scratch and be just fine. Sometimes players get major injuries like broken bones, torn muscles, and broken bones that can greatly effect a player’s current health and future health. Some injuries, such as concussions can effect a person many years later after they had already forgotten they had the injury. Some of the all-time greatest players and coaches don’t want their children playing football. Their opinion should be respected and put into consideration, because most of their life they have been either playing or coaching football and know the risk that there is every time a player goes onto the field. Mike Ditka played in the NFL as a tight end and also coached for the Chicago Bears, but he doesn’t want his children playing football. When Ditka was asked if he would allow his children play football he replied, “It’s sad. I wouldn’t. And my whole life was football. I think the risk is worse than the reward. Kids, then play football and try to get better at the sport in hope that they will become great as the ones that inspire them.
