Kids who are less athletic are picked on for they're lesser abilities. This can cause major stress on the student, and can lead kids to skip school out of dread for the class. It would be a lot easier to give these students an option of a class they would feel safer in. Locker rooms is another aspect to the class that students fear. Changing in front of their peers isn't exactly comfortable for everybody. These kids don't belong in gym class if they absolutely dread it. Around fifth grade or middle school, students are becoming more independent. Perhaps around this time they could choose whether or not they'd like to take PE. I'm sure the battle of whether or not the class should be mandatory will go on for years. Both sides of this issue are understandable and valid. PE class could be optional, and everyone could pursue what they really want to do. Because there are many pros and cons, I assume this issue may never be fully resolved. The chances of Physical Education becoming optional are rather slim, but in the meantime, we have the right to share our
