Nick Hanaure an entrepreneur and venture capitalist in Seattle says “If minimum wage had tracked productivity gains since 1986 it would be $21.70” (Hanauer 1). If minimum wage changed with today’s economy, then today’s minimum wage would be almost three times what todays is. Today’s Minimum wage cannot compete with the prices which come with an expensive economy where people live in today. Along with poverty (many times) comes violence. Peter Moskos and associate professor in the department of law and police science and John Jay college of Criminal Justice says “Like robbing banks because that is where the money is” (Moskos 1). In many poverty stricken towns some people have referred to robbing banks, stores, and people. Poverty can cause people to act reckless such as robbing banks, stores, and people, but if the minimum wage goes up then amount of violence will go down. Immigrant’s legal and illegal work for less.
