Minimum Wage
Hillary Clinton in the past has supported a federal minimum wage increase; however, she has never committed to an ideal amount, until recently. Just a few months ago while in Iowa, Hillary said she feels a federal minimum wage of twelve dollars would give American’s the boost they need while not interfering with job creation.
Marco Rubio agrees that minimum wage workers need to make more money. He claims that nine, ten or even eleven dollars an hour is not enough to survive. However, he does not believe the minimum wage should increase. He thinks the minimum wage should be abolished. Rubio would like to see private investors loan money to students. The student would sign a contract which would allow the student to repay the loan over 15 to 20 years with income based payments. The student would provide information that would convince the investor that he or she is a good investment. Rubio claims putting the risk of investing in the investor’s hands alleviates the risk on the student. Currently, students end up paying back the federal government for most of his or her life, credit is ruined if defaulted and even wages and income tax refunds are garnished. While Rubio doesn’t think this is an option for every student, he believes it will alleviate some of the student debt in
