Should minimum wage be raised or lowered? This is a very controversial topic. I personally I think the minimum wage should be raised. There are several reasons why it should be raised. My main three reasons are to help the people, decrease the unemployment rate, and open up new opportunities.
Firstly, raising minimum wage will greatly help the people. Many people are struggling to make ends meet with the low wages they are making at work. People who are working forty hours a week are getting the max hours they can get, but still struggle day to day to try and make ends meet on a two hundred dollar check. Its very hard to go to work and work day to day and still not make enough money to make ends meet.
Next, raising minimum wage will decrease the unemployment rate.

But the rate will decrease more than it will increase.
Lastly, raising minimum wage will create better opportunities for people. This is the most important reason of all to me. Raising minimum wage will give people a better out look at life. It will give them a since of hope and accomplishment that they can now provide for their families the way that they are supposed to. For the single moms out there who is

put a huge smile on her face because now if her kids ask for something she will be able to give it to them. For the people who are in college who are not quite able to pay for all their books and their struggling to try to go to school and work this will give them a sense of accomplishment. Raising minimum wage will be a great thing for everyone.
In conclusion I have talked about the three most important things to me in raising minimum wage and that is help the people, lower unemployment rate, and open up opportunities for people. So the question I ask you is do you think minimum wage should be raised of

Minimum wage started off as $0.25 an hour and has been changed for a total of 22 times by the year 2009.
