Legalizing Medical Cannabis
Medical cannabis refers the use of cannabis to treat diseases or improve symptoms. The use of marijuana as a medicine has not been severely tested, often due to restrictions because of the side effects that come with smoking or using medical cannabis. Since medical marijuana can damage your lungs they should take advantage of the other ways to consume the THC needed. Medical marijuana can be smoked, eaten (edibles such as cookies or brownies), vaporized (heated until the active ingredients are released but no smoke is formed), and there are liquid extracts. Doctors could prescribe any of those methods to help treat headaches, it’s also known to help with seizure disorders or help with a disease like cancer. Also with long term diseases like glaucoma or nerve pain.
Medical Marijuana is not legal everywhere because the drug has mental side effects, some side effects can be avoided by the way you use the drug. Smoking marijuana can increase rates of depression, anxiety, and schizophrenia also sometimes causes temporary hallucinations, temporary paranoia, and disorganized thinking. “The THC from the plant is a neurotoxin, a neurotoxin substance that damages or impairs the function of the nerve tissue, adolescents who use marijuana more than weekly increase their risks of experiencing psychotic symptoms and developing psychosis.” (Gilman) Cannabinoid-induced euphoria may cover up symptoms, leading…
