The legalization of marijuana has been a highly controversial topic in the past few years, due to it being a “gateway drug” so to speak and hasn’t been used in the best manner. However not everyone uses it for the sole purpose of just getting high, some people need it for medical reasons. The marijuana when legalized will not just be for sale on the streets, you will have to get a prescription for the medical marijuana. So the fear of people having the convenience of just leaving the house to get drugs is not necessary because without a proper doctor’s prescription no one will be getting the said medication. I am a strong believer in the legalization of marijuana.
Marijuana has always had a bad reputation due to famous rap songs always being about getting high on “weed” at parties or anywhere and for no medical reason. Which makes people skeptical of it being legalized however it is an actual medication treatment. As stated by Doctor Anne Harding “...headaches, a disease like cancer, or a long-term condition, like glaucoma or nerve pain”, so medical marijuana does help people get relief from their pains as well as it improves their appetite. Guns are for protecting yourself but people use them when not in danger they use them just to kill. However the difference in these things is marijuana helps people and is for medicinal reasons; also no one has ever died due to a marijuana overdose. There are many other drugs that are legal that are used in a non medical sense just to get the sensation of being high or feeling good. Marijuana is also not as dangerous as already legalized drugs.
