The oldest written record of Cannabis was way back in 2727 B.C. from Chinese emperor Shen Nung. The Romans and the Greeks were also known to use Cannabis, which is also commonly referred to as weed. Weed spread throughout the Islamic kingdom reaching the Middle East and Northern Africa. Marijuana spread to the Western hemisphere where it was made available in Spain, then imported to Chile to be used as a fiber. When Cannabis had made it to Northern America, it was used in many ways other than smoking it. It was used for clothing, paper, and rope. Marijuana was grown on many plantations at that point of time as well. If marijuana was as bad as the world had made it out to be, why was it widely used back in the day? In fact with today’s research and today’s studies we find out more and more that marijuana is in fact very beneficial to human health. Marijuana helps keep people healthier; helps improve our economy, and helps keep our communities safer.

Marijuana is currently part of the black market providing business for gang members and other crime associated people. If marijuana become legal then all these gangs would go out of business. It is similar when we had the ban on alcohol. Once alcohol was legalized, Al Capone and many other gang members were out of business the next day . Also once marijuana is legalized, cops can focus on more serious crimes such as murders and burglaries.
