These ideas that are prevalent in society causes some people looking for alternative medicine to overlook the benefits of marijuana. These side effects do not always have to be the case among users, it depends on how the marijuana is applicated, and whether it is for medicinal purpose or recreational. According to a survey done by Dr. Azofeifa, a doctor in charge of surveying marijuana users for national health purposes noticed in his results that, “among persons aged >12 years old (range: 2.1 million new users in 2002 to 2.5 million new users in 2014); in 2014, this averaged to about 7,000 new users each day” (6). These are 7,000 new users each day less than 12 years old using marijuana for recreational use, that is outrageous to think about, and should not be happening. The only way anyone should get marijuana is for medicinal purposes only especially under the age of 21. Any time a drug is used for recreational purpose there will be some sort of ill-effect on the user, but within the right scope of use, side effects can be mitigated, this holds true to marijuana also. Marijuana has benefits outside of medicinal purposes but should be focused solely on medical efforts. The research for new drugs should be to help a patient. The patient should come first without the restrictions on marijuana, and other substances classified as illegal. These substances should be given a fighting to chance to see if it really is useless. If they are deemed usable they should be allowed in the medical field under the stipulation the person has a real issue. The use of marijuana recreationally should be eradicated but medically should be continued to be pursued. There should also be a call on the medical field to pursue new techniques, and learning to put the patient first again. This is a call on the Christians to also rise above the preconceived notions, and branch out in love, that this plant that was put on this earth could actually be useful. There will be obstacles on every front, but there will always be obstacles with everything in medicine. It is the duty of those around medicine to change it for the better despite those
