Recreational drug use is the use of psychoactive drugs to change one 's mental state such that it modifies emotions, perceptions, and feelings for recreational purposes. It is believed that people use recreational drugs to induce feelings of relaxation, calmness and a to also create a state of alertness and increase energy boost. Recreational drugs ranges from alcohol, marijuana, tobacco, and caffeine taken for their effects on altering bodily consciousness but have not been ‘prescribed for medical reasons’ (Wolf, 2007). Legislatives all over the world have spent years and billions fighting to rid the world of drugs. However, there has been ongoing arguments and debates on the legalities involved in the use and control of commonly illegal drugs such as marijuana. Advocates of the legalization point out the medicinal properties of using the drug ranging from its ability to aid in the cure of conjunctivitis, intermittent explosive disorder, psoriasis and other health disorders. Also, they are of the opinion that marijuana is less harmful than both alcohol and tobacco, it can lead to increased revenue through its sales, less money would be spent on supporting organized crimes hence it should be, used not only for medical treatments but for recreational use. Critics of the legalization meanwhile are of the opinion that unregulated use of the drug has physical and psychotic harmful effects and provides users a high tendency to seek out harder…
