Cannabis In Medical Research

There has been much debate on whether or not cannabis actually has any significant value in the medical field. However, there is no arguing that cannabis has been used for centuries to assist in the treatment of a variety of medical conditions. After the plant was banned from public consumption there was little room left to conduct medical studies in order to evaluate the effects of the drug on the brain and body. Some argue that the laws should be loosened in order to allow medicinal studies to be conducted in order to open doors to new treatments or even provide a cure for certain medical illnesses. Others argue that the laws should remain just as strict due to the fact that the drug impairs brain function, creating a dangerous environment for consumers and those around them. Though cannabis has been used in the past to treat side effects of many different medical conditions, it is still associated with a high risk factor. With this in mind, we must also consider that every other drug that is used to treat conditions comes with a certain risk that must also be taken into account when prescribing medications. They all have the qualifications to accurately research and report on studies that were done regarding human health and pharmaceutical use. The authors may have a bias on the matter due to the fact that they are from a far more liberal university, and therefore it is possible that the research that the authors conducted was focused mainly on the positive aspects of the drug. However, the authors also provided an in depth analysis of the potential negative effects of cannabis on the body.
