Many teachers say that getting extra time with students help their learning but that is not always the case having longer school days generally means a longer summer. Which leads to the break between grades will be longer and the kids will not be able to remember everything from the school year before. Give kids time to let loose from school and enjoy a nice long break but it also can make kids forget about everything they learned the past school year. Kids forgetting about the previous school year will be a problem that can be stopped by having kids do packets over the summer but giving kids work to do on their break isn't really much of a break from all the work they already do all school year. Also teachers don't want to just get back from break and have a bunch of packets to grade. The public opinion is very influential to many schools and districts but it also has many factors in it. In conclusion schools being open longer will generate more cost of school and District causing money issues. School is supposed to help kids learn but it shouldn't control their whole adolescent life kids should be allowed breaks and freedom every so often. Some students might feel this longer break is a good way for them to get away from all the stress school causes. Students could retain information from year round school, however all that learning makes it harder on the student so the longer break would be more beneficial. Students also have more time to start going into the real world. Students tend to get jobs during the summer rather than school because of time.…

With the short breaks that year-round school schedules provide, students are less likely to be bored and have less of a slide in knowledge. According to Jordan Catapano, year-round schools’ break schedules add more options for vacations and rests. Opposed to long breaks, these breaks are more ideal because they also relieve summer slide. With short, frequent breaks, teachers don’t have to surrender much time to review lessons (Catapano). Students and their families have more vacation options because of the many breaks, but they don’t have the option of summer camps and jobs with the year-round schedule.…

If we were to ask today’s school kids what they would prefer I would guarantee they would agree with keeping today’s school schedule the same as it is. The very thought of sending children to school year-round makes some parents cringe. They dislike the idea of children attending schools with no summer break. They question the value of a continuous school year interspersed with many breaks. While the schedule is definitely not what the majority of parents grew up with, it’s not nearly as onerous as some people think.…

In conclusion, keeping the longer summer break instead of year-round school would be very beneficial. It is important for students to have a well rested mind, a time to enjoy themselves, and less stress from all of the work. Summer is supposed to be for fun times and time off from all of the work and effort students put into school, a time to relax and look at all of the work they did. Shortening summer would simply just cause students to stress more and not be able to have the time off they deserve and…

Students need a break from all the stress about test and quiz’s, and homework and studying because that stress would make it harder to focus when it comes to the test or quizzes or even homework. Year round school makes it harder for high school students to get summer jobs which is not good because the high school year normally junior or senior year is when students begin to get apartments and cars but if school become year round it would be impossible to that because of that fact that all of their time is being spent on school. For years, many people involved in the school community, teachers and students alike, have argued that school should begin later in the day. There are many pro’s and con’s when it comes to this area of discussion, because of both the positive and negative aspects that would follow such changes within the school system. Many students believe that beginning school later in the day would lead to improvement in their learning and listening capabilities, due to the fact that they have obtained more sleep and are therefore now more awake, and their brains more active. It would also allow for the students to stay up later if necessary for work, homework, extra curriculars, etc. Many teachers believe, and research has shown, that starting school at…

Mark Twain once said, “I never let schooling interfere with my education.” School is not the only place that learning takes place. Therefore school is not the only place a kid should spend their adolescence. There has always been a big debate on whether or not the school year should be longer. The school year should not be longer because kids need time outside of school, it would cost too much to keep them in school for a longer amount of time, and children should not be denied the opportunities that occur when school isn't in session.…
