Should Labor Unions Be Abolished

Labor unions are legally recognized as representatives of workers. One reason employees join labor unions is that there benefits become accessible. 93 percent of unionized workers were entitled to medical benefits compared to 69 percent of their nonunion peers, according to the National Compensation Survey. The second reason employees join unions is in my opinion the number most important reason, is job security. Nonunion employees are typically hired "at will," and can be fire at will as well. Union workers can only be terminated for "just cause," and the misconduct must be serious enough to merit such action. Even when being terminated seems to be appropriate before that can take place that person can go through a grievance procedure, and if necessary, arbitration.
Some organizations rather not deal with unions for multiple of reasons, one being the cost that comes with having a union, indirectly and directly. For example unions function as labor cartels. A labor cartel restricts the number of workers in a company or industry to drive up the remaining workers’ wages. These higher wages

Another legal responsibilities is threatening employees with loss of jobs or benefits form communicating with the union represented. One way in which management and unions might work together to craft mutually beneficial contracts, Is to meet on a consistent bases to be on the same page as one another, and work as a team to make the best choice for the department. The second way is to form an employee engagement committee. A represented from the management team, union and the staff will meet on a consistent bases to discuss any issues or concerns from any party
