Should LGB Youth Be Treated Equally?

It is 2015 and people are still not treated equally, because they get discriminated for who they are. The meaning of equality is the state of being equal, being treated as any other human being is treated. Do you know that suicide is the third leading cause of death among young adults from ages 15 to 24?And that the LGB youth is most likely to commit suicide because of discrimination, according to research I had a friend who was made fun of because of his ethnicity, they called him names to make him feel bad. Clearly he was not getting treated correctly back then. There have been many case where people were are treated unequally because of who they are. ''According to the 2012 National Transgender Discrimination Survey, nearly 80 percent of transgender individuals say they have been harassed''( Fredrikson). This supports the topic because it shows stats of how many transgender are harassed because the choose to be who they are, specially when they express themselve. The second evidence is "The officer in charge shall not bury, or allow to be buried, any colored persons upon ground set apart or used for the burial of white person"("Jim Crow Laws"). A lot of brutal laws were placed against the colors, if a person served for his country and died he is not allowed to be buried with a white person. This relates to my topic sentence showing how people had no feelings back then they still cared if he was black or not, they did not care if served for country and the died fighting for the country.
