Should Kids 12 And Up Be Aloud

Decent Essays
Should kids 12 or up be aloud to have jobs? My answer is yes because then they don’t have to ask their parents for money. They can also buy their own things. It can even teach kids responsibility and discipline . Those are some reasons why kids 12 and up should be aloud to have a job.

My first reason why kids 12 or up should be aloud to have a job at age 12 or up, because they don’t have to ask your parents for money. For example say you want to buy new shoes, you don’t have to ask your parents for money because you have the money. Not asking your parents for money is better for you as the kid and parent because your kids will have money from their jobs. It’s better for the kid because instead of hearing the word no every time you

    Etzioni Summary

In order to adequately represent his case, Etzioni provided a significant amount of information and facts to support his claims. As Etzioni reports, teen jobs generally look quite appealing on the surface, offering good pay and regular employment; however, the workplace lacks any sort of room for creativity and thought, and equips teens with sub-par skills which are of little value outside of the store. Even though there are some fundamental principles that teens can learn from this type of work, such as being accountable to show up for work and learning the value of money by earning it yourself, there too many drawbacks that outweigh the advantages, per Etzioni. Details presented by Etzioni help the reader to better grasp and understand the…

I believe high school students should have jobs, to save for their future and should help their families whenever it is necessary. While working, students can develop the skills needed to handle money. In Etzioni’s article, he assumes that when a teenager gets money, a large amount of it is spent on useless items. However, teens working at “the cash register” (par. 9) realize how important money is to succeed. Many students are saving for college or paying bills to support themselves, to help not only better their future, but…

Topic: Should Teens be Paid Less than Adults? Answer: Although a lot of people may not agree with my opinion, I believe it is fair to pay teens less than Adults. Most every job requires some sort of experience, whether it’s being able to do simple math, or being able to con people into buying junk they don’t need. Teens fresh into the work force typically don’t have those skills.…

The paycheck is given to the teenager for doing little to nothing. Most teens are put at a position of clean up or cash register which doesn’t challenge or stimulate the brain. When teens finally decide to start a career it is going to give them a hard look at life. A larger paycheck no longer means mopping floors and cleaning tables. Careers require education which you seem to lose during high school, while working at McDonald’s.…

It is guessed that if employers could pay teens less, they would hire more of them. But that may not be true, as stated above. Teenagers have restrictions on what they can do and how long they can work, where adults do not. So for an employer has to hire adults, why would they hire more candidates who can’t get the work done versus…

Laws on child labor have changed greatly over the years. Around the late 1700’s and early 1800’s- also known as the Industrial Revolution- child labor was common and accepted. However, now a child has to be at least 14 (more commonly 16) in order to work. The importance of education has been amplified since then, which contributed greatly to making the child labor laws more just.…

    Wage For Teens

    • 349 Words

I believe it is completely unfair for teens to be paid less than adults for the same exact job. The fact that people believe in lowering minimum wage for teens supports discrimination. “For example, the Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that women earn on average about 78 cents for every dollar a man makes.” (Watkins, page 23). There is already discrimination in wages/workforce and there really is no need to add to it if both teens and adults are doing the same job but each are earning a different amount just because of age.…
