Should Juveniles Be Sentenced As Adults Essay

What do you think should juveniles be sentenced as adults? Juvenile is defined as young person who is under 18. “There is a juvenile law which is an area in law that states that juveniles aren’t responsible for their criminal acts and they should be short-sentenced” (“Juvenile”). This law protects the criminal child and what about the victim’s child also; this law protects the criminal’s rights and ignores the victim’s rights. Juveniles have done too many heinous crimes that cannot be underestimated and say that they are children such as murder and rape. Therefore, this law must be replaced by a law which allows them to be sentenced as adults because when they did their crimes, they didn’t think of the results we should not think about their fate too and crime is crime whatever your age. “In 1998, 13-year-old McKinley Moore from Highland Park, Michigan was the first child to be tried as adult in the history of the state” (Larry Roberts). I think if juveniles have been tried as adults till now and if all countries didn’t apply juvenile law the crimes done by the juveniles will be decreased because they will be afraid from the severe punishment. The victim’s family suffers from losing their loved ones and they suffer from depression. As claimed by Connie Saindon “After a murder, the victim’s family subject to constant changes that are difficult to the reaming members to accept. Each member of the family suffers with his/her own grief and sadness”. If their child’s rights were not taken they will spend may be their whole life feeling depressed and cannot recover.
