If someone is under the age of 18 when they commit a crime it is deemed unconstitutional to give life without parole but if they are tried as adults and in the eyes of the law they are adults. If young delinquents are old enough to commit heinous crimes they should have life without parole even before their 18th birthday. They should receive life without parole because they are considered young adults and they have a clear understanding of what is right and wrong. In the United States under constitutional law a juvenile can be charged as an adult given the severity of the crime they commit.
If children are put into prison, they can't commit crimes in our communities. Statistics show that as the population of juvenile serving life without parole increases there is a decrease in crime rates. When juveniles are detained in institutions for a short amount of time, they make friends with individuals that have prison history, creating a criminal capitalism and commit crimes outside of jail but if they are put locked up for committing murder and stay in serving the life without parole sentence committing crimes in the community is …show more content…
They still understood what they were doing and the consequences of their actions. Mental disorders are no excuse.
Adolescents should be sentenced harshly. If a crime is horrible enough such as rape or murder, a teenager should be punished and sentenced just as harshly as any adult would be.
Juveniles should not be trusted because they don't always do the right thing . Psychopaths are extremely difficult to rehabilitate.
