“The truth is, today’s immigrants, as they have for generation after generation, work the longest hours at the hardest jobs for the lowest pay, jobs that are just about impossible to fill” (Luis Gutierrez). This quote shows that immigrants are extremely hard workers and persevere through all the obstacles they face in America. Immigrants in America are successful based off of how they are treated. Immigrants should be considered an American once they have worked hard enough to support themselves, also, once they achieved their “American dream” which they can achieve when they are treated right, and finally once they have gone through the hassle of racial profiling and discrimination.
