What is homophobia? Homophobia is the ability to have negative feelings or attitude towards people that are homosexual (Altemeyer,2001,1). They have a tendency to have strong disliking based on irrational fear, and its often related to a religious belief. To be homophonic is to show hostile behavior such as discrimination and participate in violence on basis of sexual orientation that are non-heterosexual (Bahns,2011,2). Why do people act this way towards other human beings? Having religious beliefs are a huge influence on society. In the Christianity faith it says being gay or acting in those inclinations is a sin (Comrade Fang, 1993,2). They believe that homosexuality is unnatural, but they do not see that other species in the world have the common interest in the same sex (Altemeyer,2001,1). They conduct the power that human have free will; they consider people to have the choice to choose their sexual orientation. For example, ex-gay ministries are institutes where they encourage people to refrain from pursuing same-sex relationships, to eliminate homosexual desires, to develop heterosexual desires. Results of these institutes do to change the person, but they change their sexual conduct (Greenvile,2011,1). Not all passionate Christians are homophobic. Homophobia violence is a common display around the world. They constantly discriminate people for being who they are. Recently homosexuals are beginning to have the human rights the deserve in society. After the summer of 2015 hate crime has been on a rise because of the marriage equality law (Comrade Fang, 1993,2). Seattle, Washington is one of the cities that have a large population in the LBGT community, but just days after the great victory of the gay marriage enforcement law was approved violence was remaining at the tip of homophobes thoughts (Comrade Fang, 1993,2). The Pride Parade, an event filled with happiness and supporting for homosexuals, was a created to be a fighting riot. Homosexual couples and heterosexual civilians were being attacked. Homophobes men and women participated in breaking the bones and generating large bruise on these civilian because they found there display sickening to the human’s eyes (Comrade Fang, 1993,2). By just promoting the rainbow-colored flag a man was held at gun point in the Seattle Pride Parade. These are just small example of the abhorrence behavior that happen all around the country. One of the most recent and horrible example of homophobe violence was the Orlando Nightclub shooting of 2016 ("ORLANDO SHOOTING.",2016,1).
