A dedicated athlete does not go off and smoke weed all the time they dedicate their time to the team. When you play a sport you need to be a team player and play for the team and play as a team. If a drug test were to be taken and come out positive and you were under the age of 21 you would probably be in trouble with the school/coach and the law. It is a law that you have to be over the age of 21 to smoke marijuana, that is the legal age. If you have possession of marijuana under the age the first offense will be getting fined not more than $100, the second offence is fine up to $100 and a court ordered date and have 24 hours of community service, the third offence you will get fined up to $250 and a court ordered date and 36 hours of community service (CDE, 2014.) Kids don’t realize that all this can happen until it happens. Just don’t do it! As this has said before, if you are a dedicated athlete you won’t do it.
If there was a random drug test taken from each athlete in high school sports, they probably wouldn’t do it so they wouldn’t get in trouble. This would slow down the use of drugs in sports. Drug tests would be a threat to athlete if they were a drug addict. If this slows athletes down from doing drugs then maybe teams with druggies on will improve on their skills and become a better team. Drugs hurt your lungs just like smoking does you are putting bad things into your body. If we were to stop this this would help those athletes that have breathing
