Should High School Athletes Get Drug Tested Essay

According to Fox News,school athletes wish to escape their realities of economic and social hardships by consuming illegal substances. Due to our daily lifestyles, many school athletes are now using drugs for endurance and to keep up with all that goes on around them. Since high school students are required to be eligible to play, it is a huge pressure to keep up good grades while getting home late from games to still do assignments. That is why we are in favor of having all school athletes take a drug test. For starters, school athletes who consume illegal substances tend to have more physical endurance than those who do not consume these substances. According to Dr. William Bailey, “many random school drug testing programs are unlikely to detect much drug use, since they often target the lowest risk students with tests that are unlikely to detect use of anything other than tobacco or marijuana use.” For this reason, school athletes should be tested for the sake of the other team members. They say that it will help the relief stress , be able to relax and deal with everything that they have to do but they don’t always think of the consequences. The health of these athletes are at risk , so many of them use steroids , performance enhancing drugs and others . Theses drugs have a lot of effects , they accelerate their heart ,cause hair loss kidney and liver disease. The drugs may have some advantages at times but can jeopardize theses students after use and later in the future. Steroids can cause altered mood like aggression this means that they can hurt themselves or even other people around them.
