In the United States, there are certain rights that are protected by law but there is also some people that believe that it should not be protected. The second amendment which grants the right to bear arms has been a topic of an ongoing debate of whether or not the government should have more gun control. The two sides have really good point of views. One side maybe want less gun control because owning guns keeps them more secure in case of emergencies, for example: if people are breaking in homes, the residents with guns can fight back in case the home invaders have guns on them. Another example, people may need more guns in case of bigger threats like terrorist attacks and so on. The other side that is advocating more gun control may be concerned that if there is nothing that the government is willing to do then there will be more tragic shootings like in the past months and years. To put things in perspective, In the article, “Should More Gun Control Laws Be Enacted” by the ProCon Organization, it states that the United States has 88.8 guns for every 100 people or roughly about 270 million guns and not to mention that it is also the highest total and per capita number in the world. Other statistics from ProCon Organization also show that 22% of Americans own one or more guns and 35% are men and 12% are women. Even though, there will be many people that disagree with the decision of more gun control, but I think it is very important that we should have a bit more control…
