Should grades matter?

Should grades matter in school? I think they should. I’m going to list 2 things about grades. # 1 is about the grades that don’t matter and, #2 is about the grades that do matter. #1: Grades shouldn’t matter because, if a kid makes a “F”, another kid might make fun of them because they have a “A”. Grades don’t matter because, If they make a “F” on the test, and they studied really hard...You don't have to give them punishment.
#2: Grades should matter because, You might want to get in a good collage like Alabama, JSU, Etc. You want good grades so you won’t get made fun of by a kid that made better than them. You want good grades so you won’t get punished or get grounded or even get your phone took away.
