The government should outlaw abortions in most cases because abortions deprive an american child of its right to life, put women's lives at risk, and allow americans to escape the consequences of their actions. “Abortion is when a pregnancy is ended so that it doesn't result in the birth of a child. Sometimes it is called 'termination of pregnancy',. There are two different types of abortion a spontaneous abortion which is known as a miscarriage and an induced abortion where the fetus is purposely removed from the body.” The topic of abortion has been debated for over a hundred years . In the mid 1800s abortions became illegal but not until about 1965 was the argument for the right to abortions brought back up.

A lot of woman who experience unintended pregnancy undergo abortions also. Hospitals around America stopped providing the choice for a woman to have an abortion.…

“Murder is the “unlawful killing of a human being” with some level of intent.”(source 6) People are right about abortion being murder. But what they don’t know is that the baby in the womb isn’t actually considered alive until 16-17 weeks in the womb so if the woman was to have the abortion within the 16 to 17 weeks then it really wouldn’t be considered murder and besides the woman should be able to choose if she wants an abortion because she may have health problems or she just wouldn’t be able to take care of the child. People say that abortion should be illegal because you’re murdering a human being which could be true at some point but again some people don’t know that the baby isn’t fully alive until 16-17 weeks. For example “This is why abortion must be illegal if murder is illegal. It should never be “lawful” to kill any innocent human being.” In this quote they are saying that it should never be lawful to kill an innocent human being but these people don’t know what situation the woman could be in and why she needs the abortion.…

When choosing to have an abortion, mothers should first consider the harm it will do to her body rather than carrying out the pregnancy. Those opposed to abortion claim that abortions should be illegal because of the possible abuse, physical and psychological danger it poses to females. They believe that if we continue to make abortions readily and easily available to all females, they will not use preventative care and instead just have uncontrollable amounts of abortions, they argue, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) study showed that 19-25% of women who received abortions in 2006 had previously had one or more abortions. Those against abortion claim that it is a slippery slope, which would lead to excessive unhealthy abortions of many, but also the break down of the women’s psychological state. A 2002 peer-reviewed study published by the Southern Medical Journal of more than 173,000 American women, found that women who aborted were 154% more likely to commit suicide than women who carried to term. They claim that obviously there has to be come kind of after effect that women are enduring because of these abortions.…

In 1973, in Roe v Wade, the Supreme Court ruled that a "right of privacy" allows a woman to abort her fetus before it is viable (Medoff 2010). Taking this into consideration, any regulations or laws that create an undue burden on women trying to get an abortion before the fetus is viable, should be considered unconstitutional. States along the bible belt have the most problems with abortion, therefore they typically make it harder to have an abortion. States get around dealing with cases that could be ruled unconstitutional by making it difficult for abortion clinics to keep their doors open and implementing the fear of judgement. In doing so, they are no longer creating an undue burden on women seeking abortions.…
