Persuasive Essay

There has been a lot of controversy over whether or not girls should or should not be able to play on boys sports teams. This has been a growing topic throughout the United States due to the growing factor of women’s equality. There are a lot of things that become risks when you throw girls in the mix with boys, which is why I believe that girls should not be allowed to play on the boy’s sports teams. I believe this statement for a number of reasons, but there is one that stands out to me more than any other. There have been many protests over this topic because boys have wanted to play volleyball, but the school will simply not let them. The debate really began to blow up when a school allowed a girl to join their

For boys to play volleyball, the entire sport, through the school, would need to become co-ed and play as an intramural sport. This is the case all around the U.S. where teams join a co-ed league so they can let the boys play on the volleyball team. My question is why does the school have to join a co-ed league just to let boys play this sport? Football teams don’t have to join a co-ed organization when girls want to play football so why should the volleyball team? The major flaw with co-ed volleyball teams is that there are not many around the nation. When you are in one of these leagues you are not always able to play teams nearby. One reason schools shouldn’t have competitive sports is that kids are young and can hurt themselves easily or sacrifice other opportunities. Many in the field of sports are young. 60% of boys and 47% of girls are competing on sports teams by the time they’re six years old. High School Sports Should high schools be all about education, and grades? I couldn’t see myself getting up in the morning excited to learn trigonometry. Let alone be happy in a place like my school. My point would be that I only come to school because I find motivation in the sports that this school has to offer. I tell myself I have to turn my homework in, or I need to read this page, and study so I can pass my test to play Friday night.…

Co-Ed sports teams consist of athletes of both genders. These types of teams are typically only available for the younger kids, but what if it was an option for the older players too? Having the option to play co-Ed sports could be a massive push in the right direction for both the children involved, and the reputation of the school promoting it. The school would likely be the only one in town offering the student athletes a fun and healthy way to learn to work with others, relieve themselves from stress, and learn to have mutual respect for others no matter your differences. When you feel as passionate as I do for a sport you prefer to be playing the game as often as possible. This in most cases means playing a select or club season in the off season of high school. Little would you know that playing the same sport in two different environments could possibly change your view on the sport entirely. For me volleyball is the game I feel a passionate love for, that is why I chose to play club and high school volleyball. Club volleyball's environment and competitiveness make a player a better athlete than high school, making club volleyball better.…

All coaches have different ways of motivating a team of boys compared to a team of girls. While coaches can come up with a way to motivate both genders, boys and girls need separate locker rooms, resulting in the coach struggling to give a half-time pep-talk. In an article by Livestrong.com it states, “Boys and girls often wear different styles and cuts of uniforms, doubling the efforts that the teams have to make when selecting uniforms.” Co-ed teams make more than just the players lives complicated. People who believe there should be co-ed teams think that making them play on separate teams goes against everyone having equal rights, but this is not the case.…

Now, technically speaking they do have a lot of similarities but if you look at it a bit deeper there is more to it. In high school volleyball, depending on the school size, you have a mish-mesh of players with all different skill sets. This can allow the team to have what any basic school team could have as in regards to team dynamics, by cheering each other on and getting other players to snap out of either a slum or a bad play. But, club volleyball have players try out in order to be on the team, this requires players to have the ability to communicate as a team and work together as well as have the skills to play. Another component to having a good team dynamic is the coaching, the team can be able to play well but every team needs a solid coach.…
