Lennie even said, “Why do you got to get killed? You ain’t so little as a mouse” (85). He, soon after, killed Curley’s wife, showing that if provoked enough, he could kill a person. Therefore, this lead George to kill Lennie. Some people think that George shouldn’t have killed Lennie because he didn’t know what he was doing. When Lennie killed the mice, it took him some time to realize it was dead. He didn’t know that hitting his puppy like that would kill it. “…I didn’t know you’d get killed so easy” (86), was something Lennie told the dead puppy. Even after killing Curley’s wife, he didn’t know she was dead until after she didn’t talk to him. However, if Lennie didn’t know what he was doing, how did he know they were bad things? After everything that happened, George still had to kill Lennie after what he did. Many people have wondered should George have shot Lennie? While I am upset that he shot Lennie, after thinking for awhile I think that he made the right decision. One reason that I think this is because if they tried to run away together they would have eventually been caught. Partly due to the fact that they are dealing with a murder more people will be looking for them and they didn’t get a very big head start. If they did escape though they would be looking over their shoulder and lived a unhappy fearful life.…

After Lennie killed Curley's wife, the other guys had their mind set on killing Lennie for what he had done, but George decided he should do it himself so it wouldn't hurt him as bad as knowing that he let other people do barely know Lennie, do it. Even though George knew he was better off without Lennie in his life he's even told Lennie “I could be living so good without you getting me in trouble and outta a job” (Steinbeck). Honestly George knows he’d be better off in his life without Lennie, but he doesn't want to leave Lennie because he knows he would be alone and put in place for the mentally impaired people. Although, George wants to keep one job and possible get a wife and have some children, but he can't do that because of Lennie and his way of not being able to keep a job.…

George made the right decision by shooting Lennie Because. George did not want Lennie to suffer for what curly had in store for him so think of Lennie death as a mercy kill fast and less suffering also if George wouldn't have shot Lennie he could get tortured in many different ways. But most people say that George and Lennie should have run away instead of killing Lennie. My first reason that George should have taken Lennie life is that first of all. If Lennie had tried to escape with George both of the men would be considered wanted so it would be hard to have any type of job or place to live because their reputation would be murderers, But George thought that running away would be a bad idea so he did not want Lennie to deal with all this so he took his life.…

There was no running away from this situation. Lennie would either be convicted of murder and thrown in jail or Curley and the mob would find him and most likely torture and kill him. George knew that he would not be able to help Lennie get out of trouble, but he knew a way that could stop any pain he would experience from these two options. It was said before in the book, when Carlson wanted to shoot Candy’s dog, that shooting the dog in the back of the head would be painless, “‘The way I’d shoot him, he wouldn’t feel nothing. I’d put the gun right there… right back of the head.…
