This experiment was conducted to determine the differences between a mutant and wild type fish. The mutant had been genetically modified therefore it is a genetically modified organism (GMO). A genetically modified organism is any organism whose genetic material has been altered using genetic engineering techniques. So the test is done to show how the two types of fish will react to certain situations. The two different scenarios are created on being a mirror placed next to the fish and the other was a tube of yellow beads placed in the center of the tank. These are both the control in each experiment that cause the fish to react in an aggressive or bold nature. Because the fish have been modified to a cellular level and their genetic makeup is man-made it is believed that due to genetic code will get the result that we do.
Hypothesis:
The purpose of this experiment is to find out if wild type fish and genetically modified fish differ in their behavior. When mutant and wild type fish are placed in an unfamiliar environment …show more content…
The wild fish results were more on the same page as each other while they weren’t as aggressive as the first mutant fish they still displayed aggression at their own steady pace. The numerical values of the t-test are used to show whether two sets of data are significantly different from each other and the p-values measure how extreme the observation is. As we concluded our research the primary hypothesis was correct, but in all actuality, none of the fishes acted the same. Therefore, I found the results inconclusive due to the small sample size of the experiment and if more samples of fishes were taken the results we be far more
