Imagine the love of your life, the person who means the most to you, and the person you want to spend the rest of your life loving, you can’t legally marry. Nothing breaks my heart more than people who are bashed, scrutinized, and judged for just loving people of the same gender. There are many reasons why gay marriage has not been legalized in all states yet. We struggle between religious views, laws, and the traditional family set up. Religion is a huge reason for the delay in legalization. Many religions believe that you will go to hell for being homosexual. There are many ways to look at this. From my point of view as a Christian I believe that God loves all his children and died for all of them. According to the Bible …show more content…
Thirteen states including Washington DC have legalized gay marriage which is great progress compared to the past. This is still far from fair. I believe that in the more conservative states it is only a matter of time before the older generation passes and the younger more open minded generation take over and legalizes it in all states. According to the Declaration of Independence “all men are created equal.” We all have God given rights. The pursuit of happiness is one of them. I don’t believe that other people can decide another person’s happiness for them. We talk about how you can do anything and be anything in America but people are banned from marring the love of their life. Divorce is legal for couples, which is stated in the Bible as a sin. Two perfect strangers that are not in love and are not taking the sanctity of marriage seriously can get married just because they are heterosexual. Some people think that the child will turn out gay. This idea is so absurd because you are born gay. Nothing that could happen can make you gay. Straight couples have gay/bisexual children all the time. A child needs a loving home. There are children being beaten, raped and starved everyday with straight parents. Being a good parent has nothing to do with your sexuality. Tons of kids go to orphanages and foster care because either their parents were inadequate to take care of them, beating them, or the children have in fact lost their parents and have no one. All a child needs in it’s life is a parent or parents to take care, love, and support them. Two mothers or two fathers can do that just find. I can bet that all the kids in foster care and orphanages would give anything to have a real family they don’t care if they are gay or straight. We all have our own families that are all different. Some families are blended because their parents got a divorce and some kids are being raised just by a single parent. Many children have a grandparent as their guardian or an older sibling taking care of them. Not everyone has the white picket fence with 2.5 children and a perfect life. America is a melting pot full of diversity, this is what makes America so great. We are all different with our talents and abilities but no one is better or higher than the other. Marriage equality is long over due. Blacks and
