There is a debate on whether or not financial literacy should be taught in schools to help children know how to budget, and how to not go in debt with loads of money to pay back. It is understandable why parents, teachers and many others think it is pointless to teach children how to balance a checkbook at 10 but, children should be taught at a young age the way of living on a budget and why it is important to live on one and this is one of the many reasons it is necessary for children to learn how to financially balance themselves at a young age. Scientists have proven that when you teach children things at a young age it is most likely that they will remember years later if they are continuously reminded of the importance of the topics that they are being taught to them to better their future, whether they are economics or finances, it should be a topic they are constantly taught and reminded of. According to Annamaria Lusardi, she believes that children should be taught how to financially stabilize themselves at a young age because she says it is “ a principle, a scientific principle” (Bernard). Although others argue that the ‘principle’ should not be taught to children at a young age because it would not be essential to them at a young age, a lot of people would argue how people have fallen in debts, not being able to pay bills on time etc. all because of not being financial
