Should fast food be banned?
Did you know that from 1980-2011 the number of people with type 2 diabetes has doubled? (Lee) Some believe that this is caused by the recent surge of the fast food industry. Studies have actually linked the diabetes epidemic to fast food. Diabetes isn?t the only thing that fast food is causing or affecting, there are many other health risks to consider when you eat fast food. The food is loaded with sodium, saturated fats, Trans fats, and may even contain some unwanted chemicals that really aren?t supposed to be consumed (Lee). Sodium raises your blood pressure and that is not good for the heart. In order to mass produce meat and poultry products and to preserve them, they must be pumped …show more content…
I showed you all of the health risks that are involved, and there are plenty. Americans safety should be a number one priority, but the fast food corporations are feeding you poison practically along with pink slime as a replacement for meat. I just feel like there are way too many health risks involved in the fast food industry. The chemicals are unknown. Obesity kills 300,000 people a year and fast food is a major contributor towards obesity (Obesity; Facts, Figures and Guidelines). It takes little time to make a sandwich at home and eat it on the go. I hope I have educated you on what is in fast food and you will be cautious about your
