Euthanasia is “a deliberate intervention undertaken with the express intention of ending a life so as to relieve intractable suffering.” There are also a couple of types of euthanasia, like we talked about in class. Passive euthanasia is something that is seen widespread already. An example is in hospitals, and is nothing but the inability to cure a person and attempts to alleviate their suffering, with the assistance of narcotics or the termination of therapy. Even though this passive form of euthanasia is legal and used wide spread, the usage of non-aggressive euthanasia is always being talked about and debated. I would hate to see someone close to me and my loved ones have to make an excruciating choice and would not want my life prolonged if there is no quality of life left. I also would not want to witness any family member kept alive artificially if it is their personal wish to leave this world peacefully. Many people have these same feelings, especially ones who are dealing with a disease or illness of a loved one right now. Arguments against the dying with dignity debate still has some profound questions I need to think about.
