And it is also an important issue among various religions like Catholic, Orthodox, Islam and Christianity. Should Euthanasia be legalized? If you say no then imagine if you or a family member were suffering from an illness that could not be cured or imagine if you or that family member had terminal cancer and that you would suffer in pain until your death. If you are in this situation you would probably consider two options, one option being suffering in pain and the other option would be to wish that you are painlessly relieved of your pain and seek the choice of Euthanasia. When talking about Euthanasia you should consider the quality of life being not how long you live, but considering the kind of life you lived. This excerpt means that the doctor must remember to have sympathy and understanding and that even though some people in society may not agree with all medical methods they must continue to treat every patient with the care they wish to receive and that doing what the patient wants outweighs treatment. So using this in my argument if a patient is terminally ill and wishes to be Euthanized instead of continuing treatment, then the doctor must fulfill this duty if the patient qualifies and really wants to have this done. Even if the patients' family disagrees with this choice the doctor must fulfill his obligation to his or her patient. Euthanasia to be a controversial problem because there seem to be no grey area, no concrete right or wrong and continues to be a highly debatable topic. I believe the Death with Dignity laws is effective in the states that have it and should be become a law in all states. People have the right to make "important decisions about their lives for themselves according to their own values or conceptions of a good life, and in being left free to act on these decisions" (Brock 227). This allows people to take responsibility over their own lives as long as the person can make decisions. “For many patients near death, maintaining the quality of one’s life, avoiding great suffering, maintaining one’s dignity, and insuring that others remember us as we wish them to become of paramount importance and outweigh merely extending one’s life” (Brock 227. Life is about quality rather than quantity. Euthanasia is highly subjective; therefore, if it was legalized, then the law should not be very specific about the type of situation that euthanasia is permitted for a patient.…
