Technology existed for a long time, but issues have risen to the public eye on the web (Alalawi). Some main issues are data leaks, internet-criminals, and plagiarism. Social Networking has changed over the decade. The social media sites students use affect their lives based on their post. Employers can get their impression of people through social media. When hiring, an employer should not have access to a persons personal and social information because there have been some discrimination in employment, chances that bullying will start in the workplace, and the information about a person has many possibilities to become hacked. First, there has been some discrimination in employment. EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission) advised the employer to keep a mutual relationship to prevent discrimination (Victor 476). "Hiring decisions by an employer should be based on an individual's merit instead of the existence or consequence of a visual disability or impairment" (Victor 475). Peoples skin color, religion, nor region the person is from shouldn't affect the jobs or colleges a person has applied. Employers could use a …show more content…
Although this could happen, employers have the right by law to look for personal information and use it (Jolly). With the information people given, they can spread rumors (Parks 39). Peoples perspectives on social media or reality, they can make lies about a person; subsequently, the threats, embarrassing pictures, and sharing private information without the person's consent have increased within online websites and working environments (Parks 40). Meanwhile, multiple times in a workplace sometimes employers afflicted their employees. Through these vile actions, the victim may commit suicide (Paris 41).
