The Electoral college is what one believes to hold together the United States, but one believes it to be a deterrent from independent candidacy. A man named Arthur Schlesinger said that if the electoral college would be abolished it would lead to the downfall of the US. His evidence would be that the electoral college stops many small parties from entering the election and stops people from making a party for people who blindly support an issue, causing a decrease of votes for people who don't plan to do more than one thing when they’re President. Another man named George Will said that the electoral college seems staged by the government and that individual parties have no chance against parties that try to win the most people as possible by coming to an agreement with the public for what they change. …show more content…
It is fair because if you strategize what states you need to win regardless of the size and make sure you get majority of the electoral votes you could win. Another fair thing about the electoral college is even if your unpopular you could win as we saw with Donald Trump the 2016 election where Hillary Clinton had 3 million more votes but Trump won majority in electoral college. Only thing that could be unfair about the electoral college is that you could win 39 of the 50 states and still end up losing which is still somewhat fair if you didn't have a strategy at
