Implementing drug tests into schools would give students a reason to resist the option to try drugs. In june 2002 the supreme court allowed schools to perform tests on students. And a study in 2008 showed that more students resisted the use of drugs in schools with drug testing. This can also help catch early drug use and stop that student from getting addicted if he already isn't. And of course there could be a false positive at any given time, but this is worth the risk. In 2012, there were reported 42 heroin overdose deaths. The tests the schools perform can detect marijuana, cocaine, and opioids such as the heroin mentioned above. And as a result of this schools can prevent students from suggesting it to others or the student accepting the substance. Obviously the drug tests aren't cheap so poor schools can't afford them but if the school has the money they should use it on drug testing.
