Have you ever been “coded” while you were at school? Do you think that most dress codes keep you from being comfortable while learning, and last but not least do you think that mostly all dress codes are somewhat sexist? Most kids think when they are wearing what they want to wear/comfortable clothes they tend to learn better. Also, some think that dress codes are taken way too far, and if a staff member is questionable about what one is wearing then they can simply just ask them a question.
It is a proven fact that when students are comfortable they learn better. In my opinion, I think that when I am dressed in comfy clothes I tend to learn better. The higher the comfort rating of the attire is the higher the exam score will be! According …show more content…
After reading up on some articles about dress codes getting taken way too far, I have the same point of view on this situation! Which is that it is taken too far. Some girls think that dress codes are very sexist and that us girls are unfairly targeted. According to NEA Today’s article “Girls fight back against gender bias in schools dress codes.” In Indiana a 12 year old was suspended and missed two days of class due to a little bit of her collarbone showing. The school called her mom waho brought her a scarf to cover the tiny bit of collarbone showing, but the 12 year old was still sent home and suspended. One eighth grader named Hailey Tjensuold explained how boys whose pants sag are simply told to “pull up your pants,” and girls are sent to the office and “forced” to call their parents to bring them a change of clothes. When it comes to dress codes in schools, there is a different standard applied to girls who are more curvy, more developed, or even just being tall. Ally De Monte (16) said “dress codes are simply rules that prepare you for the working world.” She also stated “I believe in the right to express yourself, and fashion is a good way to do so!” Also one boy said that “The idea that a visible bra strap or a pair of leggings will prevent a teen boy from learning is absurd to me,” and he also said that he would be the one to know because he is a teenage
