However, this is simply not true. With students spending the majority of their time at school, it is inarguable that the culture of their school affects who they will grow up to be. Schools are where students learn, not just facts about math and science, but how to treat others. In addition, students might not have access to the literary works that the school can obtain. This could be caused by a lack of resources, but it could also be caused by ignorance on the student's part. The student might not know that these works exist, or in some cases, students might be loathe to read works that feature a perspective that they don't share. Therefore, schools have a responsibility to their students to include diverse perspectives in their curriculum. School systems need to include diverse perspectives in their curriculum. This would help all students to have a more diverse perspective on the world. This inclusion would also help minority students in that it would make them feel represented in what they read. It should not be the student's responsibility to seek out these perspectives, but the school’s.
